Now that Bruce Jenner is Caitlyn Jenner, how should Christians feel about it?
You’ve probably heard a lot about the famous American Olympian Bruce Jenner. Bruce gained his fame by winning big in the Olympics. He remained relevant because he was the father of the Kardashian clan, including Kylie Jenner and Kendall Jenner. Then for some reason, Bruce decided to transform himself to a woman named Caitlyn Jenner. It was a strange decision that many people have discussed over the past week. Bruce Jenner’s transformation into Caitlyn Jenner has become one of the biggest stories of 2015.
Whether or not people think it’s brave doesn’t matter. The bigger question is, how should Christians feel about Bruce/Caitlyn?
The best way to answer this question is to ask the famous question, “What would Jesus do?”
Would Jesus point and laugh about how weird it is that a man turned into a woman? Would Jesus judge and not accept that person because of their decision? No. He would continue establishing a relationship with the person to make sure that Jesus was a positive influence in their life. It wouldn’t be a Christian’s job to tell them about how wrong they were or make them feel bad for their decisions. A Christian’s job is to be accepting to all people and customs and teach them about the God’s love. Nothing more, nothing less.
As the world gets older, I’m sure there will be even stranger things that happen beyond Bruce Jenner’s transformation into Caitlyn Jenner. That’s why as much as we love sports and the people who play it for a living, we must never hold them too high on the pedestal because eventually, they will all let you down. Instead of focusing on the differences between everyone, try focusing on spreading God’s love and how amazing it is to know Him.
