On this day in 1993, Chris Webber made one of the biggest and most memorable mistakes in NCAA history.
It was a game that came down to the final seconds. North Carolina was up against Michigan 73-71 with 11 seconds left. Michigan forward Chris Webber had the ball and called a timeout for his team. Unfortunately, Michigan had no timeouts left and was effectively charged with a technical foul. North Carolina shot and made both free-throws, which pretty much ended the game. As time passed by, the clip of Webber’s mistake would be played over and over again on television, youtube, and just about anywhere else you can imagine.
What I can’t imagine is how I would feel if one of my mistakes was nationally televised. I don’t think I could handle that type of pressure. Fortunately, Jesus has taken that pressure off of me, and you too, by dying for all the mistakes we’ve made and the ones we’re going to make 🙂 Our God truly is an awesome God.
Happy Sabbath!
