Upside Down, Chapter 5

The days that followed were filled with a mix of excitement and nervous anticipation. Nick and I texted back and forth, planning our movie outing with a casual ease. Willow and Tory, always curious and supportive, asked me about Nick whenever we hung out. Willow couldn’t resist teasing me, her playful grin hinting at her amusement with my newfound crush.

On the day of our movie date, I waited outside the theater, checking my phone for Nick’s arrival. When he strolled up with his usual laid-back demeanor, I greeted him with a smile, feeling relieved that he seemed just as eager for the night out.

“Hey, Tiffany!” Nick greeted warmly. “Glad you could make it.”

“Hey!” I replied, handing him his ticket. “I’m looking forward to this.”

Inside the theater, we settled into our seats, and the conversation flowed easily between us. We talked about movies, school, and our shared disdain for certain classes. Nick had a knack for making me laugh, and I found myself enjoying his company more with each passing minute.

During an intense scene in the movie, our hands accidentally brushed as we both reached for the popcorn. I felt a brief jolt of electricity, but Nick just grinned and passed me the popcorn, his eyes crinkling with amusement.

After the movie, we stood outside the theater, reluctant to end the evening just yet. The streetlights cast a soft glow around us as we chatted about our favorite scenes and debated the ending.

“Thanks for tonight,” Nick said sincerely, his voice low and genuine. “I had a good time.”

“Yeah, me too,” I replied, feeling a surge of confidence. “We should do something like this again.”

Nick nodded, his smile widening. “Definitely.”

As we said our goodbyes and headed home, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of excitement about where things might go. The evening had been fun and laid-back, and I was eager to see how our friendship would unfold. With Willow and Tory as my supportive friends and Nick showing promise as someone I could connect with, I felt optimistic about this new chapter in my life.
