The Secret Forest (part 3)

Susan gasped as a strange glow filled the doorway. What was it? Sarge let out a low growl. It looked as though there were two people standing. A taller one, and a shorter one. Who was it? Gary, Scott, and Susan didn’t wait to find out.

“Run!”, yelled Scott as he led the retreat with Sarge bringing up the rear. They helped each other out of the hole, taking Sarge out with them. Then they started running away from that area. They didn’t bother to scream; they just ran.

Finally, they reached the spot where Gary had left his stuff. “What just happened?”, said Gary, his face pale.

“What do you mean ,”what happened”?”, asked Scott. “You were there too!

“I know, but who were those people?”, asked Gary. “How should I know?”, muttered Scott. Susan’s face was whiter than a wall. Bur as they looked around, everything was calm. Nothing was happening. Oh, uh, my bad. Actually, plenty was happening. It started raining.

“Come on.”, said Scott, almost whispering. “Let’s start for home.”

“Yeah, we’d better”, agreed Gary. “Before we get caught in a storm”, added Susan. The three friends and Sarge slowly started walking through the forest away from the Morgan home. It started pouring rain. They hardly seemed to notice. They just walked on silently.

Then they heard some sort of an engine noise behind them. It was a car driving directly towards them! Gary and Scott quickly ran to the ditch, which was under some trees. But as they looked around, Susan and Sarge weren’t with them. They peeked through the trees, and saw Susan laying down on the ground. She had fallen when they had started to run. The car stopped by her. It appeared as though they were talking. Who was it?
