Book of Poetry, Part 2

Hey, Guidesters! As promised, here is Part 2 of my Book of Poetry! I hope you enjoy it!

The Recital

  • I arrived at the church and sat in the pews, awaiting my cue.

My heart beating fast, I walked up to the piano,

Wanting the moment to last. My fingers flew across

The keys, and I felt as if I was on a cloud.

When I finished my piece, applause erupted from the crowd.

But the best moment was when I looked into the

Eyes of my parents. They were proud.

The Beach (A Haiku)

  • Salty, ocean spray;

Clear, teal water filled with life.

A beautiful gift

     The Beauty of Redemption

  • Jesus died for me!

Jesus set me free!

Oh, what a wonderful God!

He died upon a leafless tree,

But He rose again on Day 3!

Oh, what a wonderful God!

Soaring Arrow

  • Aiming at the target, Katie drew back her arrow.

Oh no! She thought. My chances are extremely narrow!

“Come on, Katie!” cheered her friends from the bleachers.

Friends and foes were waiting, watching…

Giving her companions a grateful smile,

She took a deep breath and let go.

                                       ****************

She nervously watched as the arrow soared through the air.

It mercilessly pierced the middle of the target, not seeming to care.

It was quiet for a moment. Then the crowd erupted with applause,

Even from her opponent. “I did it! I can’t believe it!” Katie cried.

Friends and family rushed to her, and Katie embraced them with pride.

She then ran to the red and white target and said, “

Phew! It’s still there. What was it?

Her arrow. Her precious soaring arrow.

               Land of Liberty

  • America is the country of red, white, and blue.

It is the country that made sacrifices for me and you.

                        —————————————————-

May my teaching drop as the rain, my speech distill as the dew, like gentle rain upon the tender grass, and like showers upon the herb.
