Chapter 1: Unintentional Outburst

“...come and share your experience,” My mom finished reading the poster.
I attempted a smile. “Sounds, uh, interesting.”
Mom stretched to her full 5’ 8” feet. She looked at me with that look of hers…
“You’re not really interested in it, are you?”
“Well…” I paused. “It’s not that I’m not interested, it’s that I’d-”
“Rather do something else,” Mom finished. “I know you’re kinda glum since Josie moved.”
I looked at her with a pleading look in my eyes. “I rather not talk about it.”
Mom sighed.“Melody..”
“I DON'T WANT TO TALK ABOUT IT, OKAY?!” I exploded. My face turned red. I looked nervously at Mom, who looked kinda stunned. I guess she wasn’t expecting me to do that.
I got up and stalked out of the room.
As I left I heard Mom calling Dad on her cell phone. I could only hear snippets of the conversation, but I was positive it was about me.
“..never been so irritable before…..behavior…”
“Ugh.” I flopped onto my bed and sighed. I was ashamed of myself. Mom had looked stunned, not that much, but nevertheless stunned.
I grabbed the Ipad and entered the password. I went on ‘Chats’ to see if any of my friends were active. Friends that had moved away, that is. The problem is that most of my friends’ dads are pastors. Pastors move, obviously.
Nobody was active. I stayed on the page anyway, because if they saw I was active they might start a chat with me.
I was seriously bored then.
I thought of writing an introduction of all my friends, for if I made a new friend it would be useful. I grabbed a piece of paper off my desk and my favorite red, sparkly gel pen.

Claire-Marie Parkt: an energetic chocolate-colored skinned girl with Cuban ancestors. She loves science, although I can’t see why (lol) and art ( mostly painting). And I almost forgot, she takes pottery lessons and is really good at it. Last year she gave me a beautiful vase she made with lovely designs she painted on. Her middle name is Angel (LUCKY!!) which she reminds us every so often (we do facetime now). She also plays the piano and violin. She loves jigsaw puzzles

Josie Babienco: a shy white girl with blue eyes and curly black hair, whose mother and father and Josie (of course, duh) immigrated from Russia when Josie was 4. She used to have an accent but doesn’t anymore. She can speak Russian and English. Her middle name is Sofia. She loves poetry and will become a poet one day(she kinda already is lol) and is learning to play the violin. Her favorite subject is Language Arts (duh, she’s a poet) and she loves to play Bingo. Every Christmas we played Bingo at the annual Christmas party. (I dread this year, Josie has moved!)

Dawn Kroner: a cross between shy and outgoing tanned girl with brown eyes and dark brown hair, freckles, bangs, and from Canada. (she moved back to Canada last year) She is learning French, and plays the flute and piano. Her middle name is Melody (yes my name!!) and she loves drawing people and is a total bookworm. She also likes playing Capture the Flag and riding her bike.

I decided to write about myself in the introduction.
Me:
Melody Evanson: a shy, white girl with blue eyes and chestnut brown hair, who lives in America, close to the border of Canada. She is learning Spanish and plays the piano. Her middle name is Rose and she likes playing Tag. She loves to bake, swim, and ride her scooter.

I think that's good enough.
Suddenly a message popped up on the screen.
Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct your paths.

Chapter 2: A Chat With Dawn

Hey Melodies! How’s it going? -Dawn of the Sun

I giggled. Yay! Dawn’s active! Melodies is my nickname.

Ok I guess. -Melodies and Notes

What’s your plans for school next year? -Dawn of the Sun

I dunno. Why do you ask? -Melodies and Notes

My parents are sending me to a boarding academy this year, and the next! -Dawn of the Sun

I’m 13, and Dawn turns 14 in August. Dawn is 10 months older than me.

Cool! I’ll have to ask.. -Melodies and Notes

Wouldn’t it be SUPER if you came next year?!! -Dawn of the Sun

I’d absolutely love to!! -Melodies and Notes

Random fact: My hair is in two braids right now. -Dawn of the Sun

Dawn has darkish brown hair that she puts in braids at least once a week. Today’s Friday, after all..

Lovely! Mine’s in a ponytail. -Melodies and Notes

What’s a book you recently read? -Dawn of the Sun

Hmm..let me see.

Haunted Waters (RRM) -Melodies and Notes

Cool!
Betsy Ross (history book)
Lucy Winchester
Freedom at the Falls (AIO Imagination station)
I love reading -Dawn of the Sun
Nice! -Melodies and Notes

A soft knock lands on my locked door. “Melody?”
“What do you want?” I say sourly.
Obviously it’s Dad. I ignore him.

I have to go see ya -Melodies and Notes

What’s the rush? -Dawn of the Sun

I cringe.

Yikes! *worried look* -Melodies and Notes

Just kidding, just kidding. -Dawn of the Sun

I groan.
Did I mention Dawn loves to tease? I better put that in the introduction.

Grr.. -Melodies and Notes

You know me! Lol! -Dawn of the Sun

*suppresses giggle* -Melodies and Notes

See ya! -Dawn of the Sun

Byeee! -Melodies and Notes

I smile.

“Melody?”
The knocking got louder. “We need to talk.”
I scowl. “Coming,” I say dully and unlock the door.
