The bell rang as Rebekah was just about to be late for class. Please don’t let me be late God, please! Rebekah prayed in her head as she ran as fast as she could. Doors passed through her as she ran, until she saw a door that said DRAMA on it. She opened it up, and saw Mrs. Starry giving out scripts to the kids.
Mrs. Starry was their Drama class teacher. She had blackish-grey hair, glasses, and usually wore a blue casual dress.
Just then, She saw a spot that her best friend, Darius, saved for her. She sat there.
“Hey, you finally came!” Darius said with a smile on his face.
“Am I late?” Rebekah said concerned.
“Well, kinda. But I’ll explain later.” Darius said.
Suddenly, Darla came and whispered a song. “Darius and Rebekah, sitting in a tree. KI-”
“Don’t get into it.” Rebekah said, interrupting her from embarrassment.
Darla was a spoiled brat. She was always bragging about everything that she had was cool. But sometimes she was a bully.
Then Mrs. Starry came up to Rebekah and gave her a script. It said Romeo and Juliet on the top. Please don’t let me be Juliet, Rebekah looked at who she was. She was Juliet. She looked at who was Romeo. It was Darius.
“Dang it! I don’t wanna be in this play anymore.” Darius said upset.
Then Rebekah realized. “What?! No no no no no.” She said quietly. “Wait a minute….. So if I am Juliet, and if Darius is Romeo, Then we have to- NOOOOOOOOO!”
————————
She ran and ran to Mrs. Starry’s office. When she opened the door, Mrs. Starry saw her. “Why, come take a seat dear.” Rebekah took a seat and took a deep breath. Remembering 1 Corinthians 13.
“Mrs. Starry, I don’t wanna be Juliet.” She said.
“Wait a second, you don’t wanna be Juliet, you say?” Mrs. Starry said.
“Yes. I don’t wanna be Juliet.”
“We’ll, why not?” Mrs. Starry said.
“Because first of all, This William Shakespeare play is a tragedy. And second of all, This isn’t what real love is.” Rebekah said. Then she took her Bible out of her purse and opened it to 1 Corinthians 13:4.
“Love is patient, love is kind, it does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices in the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. 1 Corinthians 13:4-8.”
“We’ll, I never thought of it that way.” Mrs. Starry said. But now I know it’s not mushy gooshy love. But still, I’m going to do the play. But you don’t have to be in it.”
“Really?!” Rebekah said, “Oh, thank you so much!” And as she was about to leave, she realized hearing Darius earlier that he didn’t want to be in the play earlier. “Mrs. Starry, is it okay if Darius could quit being in the play too?”
“If you know that he doesn’t, then absolutely.” Mrs. Starry said.
“Thank you again!” Rebekah said with a smile on her face. She couldn’t wait to tell Darius at the bus and her Mom when she got home.
