This Major League Baseball team became the first pro sports team to wear braille jerseys.
The Baltimore Orioles want everyone to cheer for them any way they know how. Their jersey modification honored the National Federation of the Blind (NFB), which relocated its headquarters to Baltimore, Maryland.
Before their game against the Toronto Blue Jays Carlos Ibay, a blind concert pianist performed the National Anthem, and Mark Riccobono, the NFB president, threw out the first pitch. The Orioles also passed out cards with the braille alphabet to attendees.
Without the braille program, many fans wouldn’t know what was going on; they would essentially be blinded to who the players were. The program helped guide them through the game to know who was who and what was going on. Now, doesn’t that remind you of the Bible?
2 Corinthians 4:3-4 tells us that Satan blinds people. “If the Good News we preach is hidden behind a veil, it is hidden only from people who are perishing. Satan, who is the god of this world, has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe. They are unable to see the glorious light of the Good News. They don’t understand this message about the glory of Christ, who is the exact likeness of God.”
Ever hear the expression “the blind leading the blind”? It’s a metaphor for a situation where a person who knows nothing is getting advice and help from another person who knows less.
That’s something that Satan is trying to do to us; make us spiritually blind. When you’re spiritually blind you can’t see Christ because your heart is hardened and won’t come to the knowledge of the truth.
We all know God is real, but people reject Him because they fall into Satan’s trap. Then, Satan comes into the picture and blinds the minds of unbelievers so they won’t see the truth.
The best way to keep your spiritual vision is to read your bible daily. There will be times temptation comes from Satan over and over again. Pray a special prayer and cry out to God that you don’t want to be spiritually blinded by the Devil.
God will give you the strength needed; He always wants the best for you.
