Did anyone see the ending of the Saints vs Vikings game?
Down 23-24 with no timeouts and 10 seconds left in the game, all hope seemed lost for the Minnesota Vikings. They were backed up on their own 39 yard line and needed a perfect play and a little bit of luck to defeat the New Orleans Saints.
Vikings Quarterback, Case Keenum completed a pass to Wide Receiver Stefon Diggs at the Saints 34 yard line. A Saints defender missed tackling Diggs, as he stayed in bounds and ran for a touchdown! It’s one of the craziness football endings this season. The announcers called this “The Minneapolis Miracle.”
Now what happened in this game isn’t like the miracles in the Bible, it’s just a phrase the sports world like to use to describe highly improbable events. Biblical miracles are defined by the extraordinary ways in which God reveals Himself to us. Miracles remind us that God doesn’t depend on the elements of nature or man’s abilities in order to do the impossible. We trust that God will work miracles in our lives in His timing and purpose.
Ephesians 3:20-21 reads “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen”
One miracle that comes to mind is the story of 5 loaves and 2 fish. The people listened intently to Jesus’ teaching so long that the disciples wanted to send them away to gather food. However Jesus had something else in mind with only 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish. Many times we look around at our meager resources and wonder how we are going to make it; just as the disciples did with Jesus. Yet our Lord will meet every one of our needs according to His miraculous abilities even using our puny provisions in a much greater way.
