Houston Texans rookie quarterback Deshaun Watson has made great impressions on the field in his first couple of game. And now, he’s making an impact off the field too.
As a rookie, Deshaun makes roughly $465,000 a year on his rookie contract, which means his check per game is $27,353. But instead of spending the money on himself, Deshaun donated his first game check to three cafeteria workers who were affected by Hurricane Harvey.
“For what you all do for us every day and never complain, I really appreciate you all, so I wanted to give my first game check to y’all to help y’all out in some type of way,” Deshaun said. “Hopefully, that’s good and that can get you back on your feet. And anything else y’all need, I’m always here to help.”
You can watch video of the moment below.
Acts 20:35 reads “In everything I showed you that by working hard in this manner you must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He Himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.'”
Giving sets us free, while hoarding entraps us. Giving can change the lives of others. Giving brings blessing back to us (Luke ). God reminds us that giving allows us to store up treasures in Heaven rather than here on the earth. Try to think of some ways that you can give something of yours to help someone.
