This is Greg McElroy of the New York Jets. He is a thrid-string QB. Normally, reporters wouldn’t talk to him, but for some reason, they got to him this time. When asked about the state of the locker room, McElroy said, “It’s definitely not a fun place to be…It’s the first time I’ve ever been around extremely selfish inidividuals.”
Whoa.
Now while I praise him for his honesty, some people are saying that McElroy was out of line for saying negative things about his team. They think that he should’ve discussed his complaints with the team instead of talking to reporters.
Here’s where I think they’re wrong though. McEroy didn’t name any names, he was talking about the team in general. Now sure, he gave us a tiny peek into the atmosphere in the locker room, but we could deduce that this team was selfish by the way they play.
Anyway, my point is that if you’re ever a part of a team and you see something negative, speak up! If you sit there and say nothing, you’re just as bad as everyone else. Also, when you speak up, have a solution to fix the problem. Being able to do this will make you a much wiser person in the long run. So kudos to Greg McElroy for having the courage to speak up.
