|A Dark Night in Colorado|
|Written by Randy Fishell, Editor|
By now most of you know about the terrible tragedy that took place in Aurora, Colorado. Our first priority is to share in the heartbreak of this incident. God is grieving, and He longs for the day when this type of event will no longer take place.
Satan is undoubtedly pleased at this turn of events. It makes many people say, "How could God let this happen?" While it is an important question—one that cannot be answered this side of heaven—there is another question we must ask as well. Picture Jesus on the cross and ask the same question: "How could God let this happen?" The answer is because He could not let His children go without a fight; He simply loved us too much.
The Colorado shooting reminds us of what the Bible says our world will be like just before Jesus returns. We're told that people would be "brutal, not lovers of the good" (2 Timothy 3:3). We saw evidence of those prophetic words as one man took the lives of his fellow citizens in that movie theater.
Someday we will begin to understand God's bigger picture of how He works in real time and space. Until then, let us grieve with our brothers and sisters in Colorado and pray for the Holy Spirit's comfort.
