Question: A lunar eclipse is the earth, sun, and moon lining up in that exact order, right? So, say in an instance of a blood moon, Why are you able to see the red on the moon if the sun is in between? Also, Why can't you see the sun if it is between the earth and moon? Answer please!

No, the Sun is NOT in between the earth and the moon. The moon orbits the earth. If the sun got close enough to be in between the moon and us, we would burn up.
Instead, the moon is blocked by the earth from sunlight. So it appears as a lunar eclipse from the NIGHT side of the earth. So it would be like this: Moon ![]() ![]() ![]() Hope this helps. |

During a lunar eclipse, the Earth's shadow covers the moon. This is caused by Earth being directly between the moon and Sun. During a solar eclipse, the moon goes between the Sun and Earth.

According to Wikipedia, it's when the moon turns black and explodes...
![]() Actually no, it's when you can see the Earth's shadow on the moon. |

That makes sense. One more question, why does a blood moon "disappear" and then come back red? Thank you one and all!

No I didn't see it all the way. I saw the shadow start coming over the moon, then it was sunrise.
