This topic is for the newbies (like me) who have no clue on how to work this forum thingy. So it would be really nice for those discussion forum experts to come and show us how to use it.

Same, I had this account since 2019, but I never used it much. And on top of it, I just started using this forum. So, thanks for sharing what you know! And I know more Guidesters will teach us how to use the forum.

Ok. So . . . there’s a limit of five spoilers in one message. Like this:
Warning: Spoiler! [ Click to expand ]

And any topic that has a little pale flag on it, near to the title, means that you’ve posted a message in that topic.

That’s it for now, I think.

Well, here’s what I know about some of the buttons you see at the top. I hope the picture goes through. Let me know if it doesn’t.
Red: So the one circled in red is bold
Orange: The one circled in orange is italicized
Yellow: The one circled in yellow is underline
Green: The one circled in green is strikethrough
The X’s with the little 2 are either to make it one size smaller, or one size bigger.
Blue: If you click on the one circled in blue, you can choose a font size
Purple: This allows you to make your text different colors!
Now we’ll skip over a few I don’t know.
Light blue: This will give you
Warning: Spoiler! [ Click to expand ]

Gray: This will hide your text Part of the message is hidden for the guests. Please log in or register to see it.

That’s most of what I know.

So... I think it's my turn to add something.

1. Don't duplicate.
I've realized that the new Guidesters tend post similar posts several times just to be sure that their post is registered.

2. Be patient.
It may take awhile for your post to show itself. Oftentimes, it takes a few hours, but it can appear within several minutes (rarely). If you've noticed that it has been a couple days and you still haven't seen your post, post something else. You will see your posts and the most recent one (trust me, it worked).

3. Use Readingandrainbow's tutorial.
If you're unsure what each button does, Readingandrainbow's tutorial covers the usage of most of the buttons. I personally recommend you to use her tutorial. It is very helpful, and it will make you look less awkward.

4. Be committed.
It's okay if you post something every once in awhile, but if post something every week consistently, not only will you feel more comfortable, but you also show that you are not a stalker.

5. Be yourself.
People tend to get easily agitated if they are being copied. So, be yourself! This is a place we are to respect each other and their ideas. But in doing so, we should prevent others from getting angry with each other. Remember, prevention is better than cure.

6. Don't give personal info (I highly recommend this).
Personally, I think that allowing us to put in our real names and city location is kinda dumb. There are stalkers out there, and they're not the best of people. This is a dangerous world we live in.

I hope this will encourage much more to use this forum, because every extra person that is committed to being active here will make Guide better. Everyone except stalkers.
