emarp
by Rachel Whitaker, Associate Editor

Eunice (aka emarp) has been part of our team of moderators since the beginning of 2011. Below are some questions she has answered to help you get to know her better.

What's your name?
My username is emarp, but in person most would call me Eunice, although I get a Yan-Yan, Yoonee, and Ookiecookie every now and then.

What are you?
I am an 18-year-old optimist (at least trying to be!), born-and-raised Seventh-day Adventist, and eldest of three siblings.

No, I meant, where are you from?
I was born in California and lived there for 13 years before moving to Michigan.

No, I meant, what is your ethnicity?
Oh, THAT’S what you meant. :P I am Indonesian.

What do you do outside of Guide chat?
I am a junior at a public university in Michigan, studying biochemistry and music and preparing to go to medical school. If I’m not studying, you can catch me playing piano, working in a lab, cooking, running, volunteering in the local hospital, or in a board meeting for one of three student organizations, including the Adventist student organization on campus (which is why I sometimes can’t make it to chat!)

Why did you want to become a moderator?
I read and loved Guide magazines growing up, so I wanted to give back. Also, I know what it’s like to be your age (younger than 18). I appreciated my older friends who gave me lots of advice, so now I want to be that “big sister” to you all! :D

Any advice you want to give now?
Sometimes you just need to give things time. Jesus says not to worry about tomorrow because tomorrow will worry about its own things (Matthew 6:34). Yes, things may not make sense right now, but trust me—no, trust GOD—things will work out for good to those who love Him (Romans 8:28).

Fun, random facts (let me know if we have any in common!):
Purple, pandas, and chemistry are my favorites. The best things on my plate are fried rice, spaghetti, and chocolate chip cookies. I’ve had braces and sometimes wear glasses. I love the fall, except when raking leaves (you rake, I jump!)

My role model is Jesus Christ. I pray that He is yours too. :)
